More Sewing

Last week I went to Joann's 3 times! My husband and kids weren't too thrilled but I was! :)

Trip #1 begat my very own sewing machine thanks to my darling husband! And of course some fabric.

Trip #2 They were having a fatty sale so I went back to get a bit more fabric

Trip #3 The sale was still going on so I got some MORE fabric - it's an addiction I tell you!

Some of the results of all this fabulous fabric was a baby blanket and a dress for Lacie. Both of which I am pretty durn proud of!

I'm taking a break from sewing for awhile for a few reasons. I want to work on my latest project (more on that to come), and dive into the 6 books I brought home from the library yesterday. And on top of all that we have Lacie's birthday, the big 4th of July bash, and getting invites made and mailed out for the kids combo party next month! But I am dying to tackle another baby blanket and a matching dipees & wipees case for a gf that's expecting. Luckily she's not due tell the latter part of the year! :)

**ps** I had to upload these pictures ONE at a time! Durn blogger!

School Time Memories

Since it's pretty official (barring a miracle of God) that we are done having children, I'd been looking around for a way to put all of my kids' school memories and keepsakes together in an album that they could take with them when they leave the nest. This past February I finally found something that I fell in love with. It was the Kit of the Month by Creating Keepsakes' Becky Higgins.
And it sold out in one day. :( Boo
I wasn't the only one that was upset! So in March, Becky announced on her blog that they would be opening up a PRE-order of the kits and I got in!!! I ordered my 2 and was so stoked! I knew they wouldn't be shipped until June 1st so I have been counting down the days!
Then, on March 31st I got an email saying that my order was CANCELLED because of something with our credit card. I ws FREAKING out!!!!!! So I called and emailed and finally got a hold of a gal that assured me that 1) I wasn't the only one with this problem and 2) I could still get my kits!!!! They just had to get a few kinks worked out so I wouldn't be getting them anytime soon but I WILL BE GETTING THEM!!!! Yippee Skippee!!!
Here are a few of Becky's blog posts that talk about and demonstrate certain elements of the kits. I can not wait to get my hot lil hands on these!

Thrift store finds

A few weeks ago I had a few days off from work so I went thrifting. There is a Goodwill outlet here in town that is uber funky but worth the funk if you make great finds. And occasionally I do :) I really like shopping there because they charge you by the weight instead of by piece. Like for instance, housewares is something like 30cents and ounce and clothes are like 50 cents an ounce or whatever. Super cheap!

  • a bulletin board
  • a rack for some scrapbooking supplies
  • a sweet lil tin for scrapbooking supplies
  • a homey lil thanksgiving wreath in PERFECT condition
  • and a C O M P L E T E Scattergories game circa 1990s - a brand new game at Target costs $25!!!

All of the above (plus a few clothing items that were in the wash when this pic was taken) cost me a whopping $7.35!

Little Feet Repeats Recap

So the spring sale has come and gone. Special thanks again to my friend, Carla who is 3 weeks from having her 3rd lil girl by the way!, for putting on such a GREAT sale! It was really fun this year! I was able to volunteer during the sale for the first time and it was a BLAST! Of course I did some shopping during that time too hehehe No Juicy Couture attire this year but still found some great stuff :)
This dress look SO cute on here! The texture is really thick but it's lined with a satiny material so it's not itchy. It's originally from The Childrens Place and I got it for $4.50!
Just loved this lil navy sundress for $2! And the only thing I found for Brother was this Lakers "jersey" and matching shorts for $4 - It's Shaquille O'Neal's old #.
This dress is GORGEOUS in person! It's covered in lace and again lined in satiny stuff. I'm thinking it will be perfect for Sister's graduation! It's originally from Gymboree and cost me $6.50.
These darling lil shelves are for my scrapbook room and they were $2 each :)
Isn't this the cutest lil bikini for Sister? Daddy's not to sure about it though ;)
All this plus a Doctor costume, some baby walking shoes, and lil baby headbands for $35!!! Woohoo! I did have to resist THE cutest zebra bag for myself and some new hairbows for Lace :( But since I know the girlies that make them I still have hope!

And on top of all that, I sold 3/4 of my items that I had listed and should be getting a check for about $170 within this next few weeks!

O Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree

So many are your branches!

We got THE biggest tree either one of us has ever had! Not sure the exact measurements but it is definitely somewhere between 8 & 9 feet! GINORMOUS!

Last Sunday was FINALLY the big day! The kids and I had been buggin the Coach for our tree since Thanksgiving! We set out to a tree lot not very far from our house that the kids had picked out weeks ago. Rex was somewhat hesitant but that seems to be his stance for all things off our schedule these days. We walked through the whole lot before hitting the jackpot of giant trees for only $30!!! SCORE! After some discussion amongst the 4 of us - the kids wanted a little tree so Daddy had to pull rank ;) - we paid extra to get a stand put on and back home we went.

I pulled out all 3 tubs of decorations from the garage and started unwrapping. Immediately became overwhelmed by all the wonderful memories of Christmas' past. Our big ole tree fits perfectly in our living room and we had tons of fun decorating it. It does look kind of sparse, I think we need some solid BALL ornaments or garland or something to spice it up. So I don't have a picture of the full finished product because I want to add one or both of those things before I call it done :)

This is Lacie being a reindeer at the tree lot

The one we finally agreed on
So my husband is 5'9" so I guess the tree is closer to 8 feet than 9? The first time we ever strapped a tree to the roof of our car
Queenie always gets to put the star on top (Rex NEVER wants to)
Showing off an ornament he made last year
Cutie patootie pants
Love that forced smile huh?

I got something off my wish list!

A SCRAPBOOK ARMOIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A house down the street had had this (and another one!) out in their yard sale for a few weeks. I was DROOLING over them! So my hunny bought me one (better than none!) It was only $20!!!!! It is by NO means all organized and purdy yet but it's now has ALL of my supplies in in (well except my paper tower) and I am soooooo pleased!!!! Thanks again hunny!!!

I won something!!!

The hubs and I have been "blessed" with HORRIBLE luck! You should see us at the fair, with a lottery ticket, or *horrified shudder* Vegas. It is S A D. And unfortunately our children have had this passed down to them - there was a VERY unfortunate event at a cake walk this past halloween where my son had to play the game darn near 20 times AND get help from 2 friends before he could win a stinkin cake! UGH
Anyway I was pleasantly to find this email from the author of my FAVE mommy blog - Suburban Turmoil

Congrats! You've won a Trendy Tadpole shirt! Thanks for playing!

She has a blog that reviews cool products and such for kids and moms and had recently done a review on these cutie patootie shirts - http://suburbanturmoilreviews.blogspot.com/2007/12/only-best-for-my-readers.html She was also doing a drawing - post a comment for an entry and you might win. Well I loved the shirts right off the back so I posted a comment anyway but had NO hopes of winning.
BUT I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How stinkin exciting is that?

Also, the owner/designer? is offering all of my friends 30% off!!! You should SO take advantage of this! They are ADORABLE! She says sizes run small so order the next size up!
Use code 30off

Kids & Bugs

I hate flies. They are SO nasty! Seriously, what purpose do they serve? I know they must have one but they just bug me and gross me out cause you really don't know WHERE they've been! We have had these flies (I swear they are the same and are procreating!) that are REALLY obnoxious. They fly right near your eye - and I wear glasses but they come IN my glasses! - just get really close to you, and land on you for a rest, and ugh it is SO gross! We kill them, they come back, we kill them, they come back, they hide out at night and then come out during the day. SO annoying and did I mention disgusting? I'm hoping now that things are FINALLY cooling off they will be gone for good! Anyway the point of this fly nonsense is to show you these two gross but funny pictures. The Coach swatted a fly the other day and it fell to the ground right in front of the kids, it was dying a slow painful death right before their eyes because they both scrunched to the ground and watched it die! Being the wonderful mommy that I am, I just had to capture this moment on film LOL

Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

This past Friday, the kids' school had a field trip to a local farm (about 20 minutes out of town really) - Murray Family Farms. Daddy even took the day off from work to come with us!!! We got to visit the pumpkin patch the petting zoo, take a hay ride, walk through an asparagus maze, a hay maze with SPIDERS! (not real!), and shop in their yummy produce market. Mommy is in LOVE with PLUOTS!Here are a few snapshots from our day -
