Hug-a-Boos

I got this recipe from Becky Higgins. She calls them Pretzel Hugs and I did make them last Christmas if you'll remember. I decided to make them this week when I saw the new Halloween M&Ms and their fabulous colors! Then I came up with the cute name :) BOOS get it hahaha So cute :)

And since I'm SO nice, here's the recipe for all of you (in case you don't wanna click over and search Ms. Higgins' site :) ):

  • The ingredients are pretzels (the twisted kind), Hershey's Hugs, m&ms, and 2 adorable helpers!
  • I always cover my cookie sheets with foil - a fabulous tip from my fabulous mother - it cuts down on clean up lemme tell ya!
  • Preheat oven to about 200 degrees or so
  • Lay out your pretzels, leave a lil room in between em - be sure to eat the broken ones!
  • Then top pretzels - right in the center - with 1 HUG
  • Put in the over just until the HUGs are soft
  • Top with 1 or 2 m&ms
  • Cool in fridge for a few hours**

**This is a very important step! The HUGs need to re-harden so setting them out on the counter will not suffice!

There ya go! I'd love to hear if any of you try this recipe! :) Enjoy!

Happy Valentine's Day (Belated!)

This year David was scheduled to work on Valentine's Day BOOOOO!!! So we decided that on the 13th, we'd do my birthday dinner - I picked Jake's Tex Mex mmmmmm - and then we'd take the kids to their promised Build A Bear treat. We'd been promising them this for months. It was packed when we got there (an hour before closing) and the biggest bummer was that their stuffing machine was broken :( So the kids picked out the animal they wanted from their display and didn't get to kiss the hearts and put em in or anything! If you've never had a BAB experience I probably just lost you huh? Sorry! Basically they have this row of bins full of different animal skins, you pick the one you want, pick up a heart, take it over to the stuff and watch the stuffing FILL UP you're animal, then they sew up the back and send you on your way. I have to admit, it is pretty cool! We ended up having Colby's UNsewn, a heart put in, and then resewn because he was pretty upset about missing out on that part. Lacie didn't seem to mind but in hindsight we should have had hers done too because the next day her's came UN sewn anyway! Anywho here are a few pics from our night o' LOVE!
Here's me and my kiddos at Jake's Tex Mex - they didn't like the food :(

My husband is 30!!!!!

My husband turned the big 3-0 this past Sunday! I have been teasing him about it for awhile now and he had always said "I don't mind getting old, it doesn't bother me at all!". He kinda changed his tune after Christmas! hahaha

We put together a Star Wars party to celebrate his big day and invited all of our family and some close friends over to share his special day. He insisted on BBQing so I made him a special birthday apron and plenty of Star Wars themed sides to go with the HAN-burgers and DROID dogs that he grilled. It was all a big hit! A special thanks to our friends Rob & Megan who made the wonderful cakes for us!

After the party my parents took the kids for the night and we were able to spend a quiet evening alone at our local B&N (party animals huh?). It was MUCH needed!

I really wanted my husband to relax and enjoy this day as he enters into a new decade of life. He does so much for me and the kids and I feel like I could NEVER repay him for all of that. I always tease him about what a HUGE nerd he is - he's been to a Star Trek convention and went to the Star Wars convention with my brother last year. Truth is - I LOVE my nerdy guy and I wouldn't have it any other way! He's the best!
