Isabelle's Dance Recital

My sister Isabelle will be 5 in a couple weeks, she is 6 weeks older than my son. Didn't know if you knew that ;)

I ended up being the Super Big Sister on Wednesday because my father had to go in for kidney stone surgery and so they were unable to get her ready or make it the performance :( Isabelle doesn't know that though!

So I did her hair, her makeup, got he dressed, and took all the requisite pictures. Isn't she cute?

Lacie's Dance Recital

This past week was Dance Recital week in our family. Lacie's show was Monday night and my lil sis Isabelle had her's on Wednesday.
Lacie has been in dance since she was 2 years old and every summer she has a recital. This year was extra special because she was old enough to have her Daddy participate in the Daddy-Daughter dance. As discussed in my previous post she was Lil Miss Muffet and Daddy was the Spider.
It was hilarious and adorable all at the same time. I am sooooo proud of my hunny bun for getting up there and shaking his groover thang for all to see. I actually think he's been looking forward to it more than Lace! It just touched my heart so to think of the memories she will have and the kind of Daddy that I'm so glad my kids have! I'm hoping to be able to post the video soon but the Lakers have been occupying my hubby's attention the past week, so the video will have to wait.

Lacie's second dance was in Hip Hop style to a song about Humpty Dumpty. It was set to the tune of that Chumbawamba - Tubthumping. "He got knocked down, but he gets up again" Something like that. She was adorable! Stay tuned for that video also.

I really love watching her get up there on that stage in front of all of those people. She amazes me!

Mammie to the Rescue!!!

David and Lacie signed up to do the Daddy-Daughter dance number at her recital this year. We knew this would entail a few extra practices and additionaly costumes. What we didn't know, was that we were expected to MAKE Lacie's costume. As in buy the patterns, fabric, and SEW it all together.

Crazy dance teachers say what?
Yah, Mommy doesn't OWN a sewing maching because Mommy DOESN'T sew!
Oh and by the way, we found this out just 2 weeks before the DRESS rehearsal! EEK!
So, even though I'm 27 years old I STILL call MY Mommy when I'm in a crisis :)
And true to form, she came to the rescue!!!
I picked up the materials and she brought her sewing machine over and we had a family sewing party.
She said she wanted to teach me but I was not learning very well. It was actually quite comical! Luckily my SIL was there to help Mom out where I couldn't.
At one point when I was being "taught", mom even said "Don't make me go get Isabelle!" - You know, my 5 year old sister? Yah she knows how to sew better than me!
After it all was said and done, we had an ADORABLE Lil Miss Muffet costume for Lacie to wear.
We have been jokingly telling her that she is GOING to be Lil Miss Muffet for Halloween!

Christmas Dance Recitals

The dance studio that my daughter and sister go to puts on a really cute Christmas mini recital every year followed by cookies & punch and a visit with Santa. I can't remember the song that Belle's class danced too but Lacie's - being a hip hop class and all - danced to Cheetalicious Christmas! They both did a marvelous job! For some reason though Lacie was a bit nervous about being on stage and in front of everyone. Usually this is not a problem for her. Hopefully it was just a moment that will pass! :/

Bellie - "Snow Princess"

This is as close to Santa as we could get with a smile! When Mammie asked him what he wanted Santa to bring him he said "toys" then she asked what kind and he said "It's a surprise!"
So cute!!! She asked him for a dollhouse (and a pink skateboard apparently! I didnt hear that part :( )
