Project 365

I didn't realize it till just a minute ago but this is actually my 401st post! Absolutely crazy talk people!

Ok so Project 365 is a little something I had heard bits and pieces about over the past year or so. Crazy people who take a picture of themselves, their world, their loved ones, EVERY SINGLE DAY for an ENTIRE year? Who would do such a thing? Well people, I am. Every day in 2009 I plan to take a picture of something, or someone, in my little world.

I got excited about this project when I read about a scrapbooking kit for sale on Becky Higgins' blog. I was of course unsure about doling out the money for something so soon after Christmas but that problem was solved for me when all the kits sold out in mere minutes. Oy! It really has caused alot of headache and drama for lots of people so I'm actually kind of glad that I wasn't totally sold on the idea in the first place. That's not to say that I would not jump up and down with glee if by some miraculous act of God & finances I was able to get my hands one one :) You may recall me mentioning a similiar issue back in June with her School Kits. She is one popular lady!

So for now, I have gone ahead and created a second blog - Say Cheese! - to document the pictures that I will be taking every day. I'm considering creating a photobook at the end of the year, or even printing them and creating a scrapbook. We shall see. I'm happy in knowing that they will be archived in at least this way for now. So please feel free to follow along with me on this journey. Better yet JOIN me! How cool is it going to be at the end of the year to see how much my children, my family, and hopefully my photography skills will grow as this year goes on!

I Heart Pumpkins

I think it might be a sickness. I've been to THREE pumpkin patches this month, and almost everytime I go to the grocery store I pick up more! I can't help it :)

At the beginning of October, the kids and I took an impromptu trip to the beach with my parents and lil sister - which I still have yet to blog about! One of the things we did on that trip was visit the Avila Barn. I seriously thought I had died and gone to heaven! Except for the stinky animal smell haha. There were SOOOOOOO many gorgeous pumpkins! I even had pumpkin ice cream! Oh heaven I tell you!

Last week I chaperoned my lil sis' field trip to Murray Family Farms and brought the kids along with me. It was warm but fun and again - we got pumpkins!!!!!

Then last weekend I took the kids to Banducci Farms Pumpkin Patch with the sole intent on getting gorgeous fall photos of my monsters. They were fairly cooperative and I'm excited to add these to our family calendar gifts.

I need to add a picture here of ALLLLL the pumpkins I have. I think there are like 10 of em total! I'll do that in a bit :)

Excitement! Major Excitement!

1 gal from high school, 1 gal from the bloggy world, both fantabulous photographers and they're coming to B-town to show off their work!

I am sooooo excited for both of them. What an amazing opportunity. But like I said on Ashley's blog (and maybe Colleen's too?) I am also so excited for ME haha I have such fond memories of Colleen from high school but it's been I think 8 years since I've seen her and now I get to rub the lil LBS bump too!!! And Ashley, oh man meeting Ms Ashley is going to be like meeting a celebrity! Not to mention that some the other bloggers that I am guilty of stalking are rumored to be coming out of the woodwork for this shindig! It's like a lil bowl of bloggy heaven!!!! I can't wait! I've got the babysitter booked and the hubby (with his credit card) on notice! We are SO there! Here's the deets cause you DON'T want to miss this!

The show will be held at a new gallery downtown (the following was taken the gallery's blog)- Surface Gallery is owned and operated by two young artists, vikki cruz and yvonne cavanagh, who are dedicated to promoting the work of emerging and under-recognized contemporary artists.

Surface Gallery will feature the vibrant photographic works by visiting artists' Ashley Forrette and Colleen Sherman. Join us for an artist reception on Friday November 7th from 5-9pm as these two photographers exhibit a collaboration of photographs exploring the vibrant color found in everyday life.
